Back in New Zealand for a couple of weeks, playing the Northern Circut… just because I could! ????
it is a rush of games, Dinners, lunches, more games, rinse and repeat!
So far I have been rinsed twice!
First event, 2 days at Pupuke Golf Club on the North Shore of Auckland.
As with many Courses in New Zealand it is not long, only 5446 metres off the back tees.
What you cannot see from this is that it is STEEP, and narrow.
It is the firsttime I have played there, 2 Rookie mistakes, first I carried my bag. Second I played there without a practice round.
Big mistake…… Big!
Of course Auckland, that has not had rain for 50 consecutive days decided that was long enough, we had about 5 heavy, cold very wet windy squalls go through.
Trying to get rainsuit, umbrella up and then down, trying to decipher which way the fairways went and which way the ball was going was fun…. not!
Putting in the wind took me back to some of the seaside courses I had played years against, fast greens, sloping and windy, only 1 four putt per day gladly.
Day 2 was a little better at least I sort of knew the general direction of the holes…
Good start to the trip, can only get better from here… Stand by!
