Back South a touch to Omaha Golf Club.
I grew up around here, but in my day the Course was only 9 holes, and you put $5 in the Honesty Box to play, now she is 18 Holes and $70.00!
The new holes are quite close together due to housing on the left and a protected wetlands on the right (going out).
Omaha is a Surf Beach so when the wind blows, which it does! A lot! The target is often the adjacent holes fairway because there is no chance of landing in your own.
As with many New Zealand courses, the Par 5’s are not long, but the Par 3’s are.
One of the larger Pro Am fields there is a morning and afternoon shotgun start on both days, we all managed to get finished though, even though a little wind burnt, sunburnt and very tired.
A winning score of 67-64 was very impressive.
Another great holiday venue, with Islands nearby for Fishing and Diving, to add to the Golf in the area, multiple Wineries and Cafes around, really something for everyone.
